Trumpf Introduces New Line of Fiber Lasers for Demanding Welding and Cutting Applications

High-tech company Trumpf will unveil its new Trufiber P fiber laser line at the Laser – World of Photonics trade show in Munich, Germany. These new fiber lasers are versatile tools for welding and cutting thick, thin and particularly challenging materials and will be showcased in conjunction with the Trufiber S series.
Trumpf’s Trufiber P fiber lasers feature up to 6 kilowatts of power output and a complex array of optics, sensors and software for a wide range of use cases across industries. The laser has a stable power output that remains stable even when the laser is running for long periods of time.
Trufiber P offers outputs with spliced laser cables and variable mode options. The beam characteristics of the laser can be adapted to different manufacturing requirements with variable patterns. Therefore, the laser can process thin steel plates, aluminum, etc. at high speed, as well as copper, brass and other reflective materials.Vari Mode changes the beam profile in less than 40 milliseconds to achieve the best surface quality to pierce and cut thick sheet metal made from mild steel.Vari Mode allows users to speed up cutting and piercing, resulting in shorter processes and lower costs, while improving process quality for cutting and welding applications.
Trufiber S combines a powerful beam source with advanced features such as Bright Line Weld, a technology that helps improve process quality and productivity.Bright Line Weld distributes the full laser power between the core and surrounding rings in a 2-in-1 laser cable. The beam delivery system of the Trufiber S has one or two outputs. The latter delivers the laser light to both systems.Connecting and disconnecting the laser cable is a handy exercise. This makes the Trufiber S an excellent choice for large production lines such as in the automotive industry.
Trufiber S and Trufiber P fiber lasers also feature active power control to keep output power constant. The power sensor compares the preset value on the laser with the actual reading at microsecond intervals. If there is a discrepancy, the power level is automatically adjusted. This allows the laser power output to remain the same day in and day out for years to come.Powerful processing optics and Programmable Focusing Optics (PFO) facilitate remote soldering and drilling.Vision Line image processing ensures accuracy during welding. It automatically pinpoints the target location of the weld on the component.Calibration Line Focus Checks and corrects the focus position on the part. The calibration line power has the same effect on the laser power level. This check and correction routine occurs at user-definable intervals.
Smart View Services is a real-time monitoring tool with clearly arranged dashboards and intuitive displays for customers to monitor critical data from their lasers from anywhere in the world. It also sends this data to Trumpf, allowing experts to continuously check and verify the validity of parameters, and use machine learning to determine if maintenance is required. This remote monitoring can help improve the availability and efficiency of manufacturing plants. One interface enables customers to load all data from lasers, optics and sensors into the company database.Customers can easily archive and track all process-relevant parameters for many years, e.g. for quality assurance.
