SMS group, designer and integrator of technology for metallurgical plants, rolling mills and forging plants, and Taylor-Winfield Technologies, designer and supplier of coil connection welding machines, announce a global strategic alliance to provide, support and service SMS’ proprietary X-Roll Large size coils are connected to the laser welder.Taylor-Winfield has acquired exclusive rights to use SMS’ third-generation machine design to sell and manufacture X-Roll Coil Attached Laser Welders to steel producers and line manufacturers worldwide.
“For SMS group, this agreement simplifies the achievement of two strategic objectives: to expand our business through additional sales of our X-Roll laser welding machines and to strengthen our focus on installed machines and all future installations services,” says Markus Jaenecke, Vice President Processing Lines of SMS group.
Donnie Wells, president of Taylor-Winfield Technologies, said: “Not only did we acquire a proprietary design for the X-Roll laser welding machine, but we became the exclusive manufacturer and service provider for the machine.”
This welder is designed for joining common and advanced high strength steel grades in pickling, pickling line tandem cold rolling mills and other large format process lines.The company says it overcomes bar and presentation changes while providing real-time feedback with cycle times of less than 60 seconds.
